A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron

Toby is just an ordinary mutt puppy. He was born into a litter of four from a feral mother. His family lives in a den, near the forest. All four puppies love to wrestle, and they spend hours each day chasing and catching frogs. Their mother forages for food in a nearby trash can.
