A Silent Reflection

by Brynn Siles

White is peaceful, a beautiful dove, pure and charming

White is calm, a cool breeze that grazes the skin with its own soft hands.

White is a confirmation, a flawless egg, that promises the coming of a new life.

White is full of secrets, a gentle whisper from a friend.

White is a beckonging canvas, filled only by the colors of life.

White is faulty, like a tiny snowflake. A beautiful figure that lasts only for a few seconds.

White tastes sweet, like a bowl of vanilla ice cream. It should be savored, much like life.

White is fragile, like immaculate porceline.

White is an absence, but we couldn't live without it.

When broken, white tastes like blood, barely dried, fresh frrom a wound.

White smells pure, like a breath of fresh air.

White is silent; it sounds like peace and harmony.

White is rare, it looks like a single star, dancing in the pitch black night.

White feel farmiliar. It reminds me of my past, and makes me think about my future.

White is a reflection in pristine water.

White is a reflection of life itself.

The Color of Cloud

by Sandra Cisneros

Before you became a cloud, you were an ocean.

You were the shadows of a cloud crossing over a field of tulips.

You were the tears of a man who cried into a plaid handkerchief.

You were the sky without a hat.

Your heart puffed and flowered like sheets drying on a line.

You were the wind in the wheels of a red bicycle.

You were the rain rolling off the waxy leaves of a magnolia tree.

A lock of straw-colored hair wedged between the mottled pages of a Victor Hugo novel.

A crescent of soap. A spider the color of a fingernail.

The black nets beneath the sea of olive trees.

A skein of blue wool.

A tea saucer wrapped in newspaper.

An empty cracker tin.

A bowl of blueberries in heavy cream.
